赤子之心

曾经在一本相当旧期（但已经忘了是属于第几期）的《读者文摘》里，读到以下这段，我本身觉得蛮能引发人深思的短文，特此将它引述到这儿来同大家分享。

另一方面，也旨在为即将老化的新加坡社会人口打气；盼当你我在晋升成为银发一族时，能够以更阳光、更豁达的心态，去坦然面对它。

On Youth (abstract from Reader’s Digest Magazine)

Youth is not a time of life, rather it is a state of mind;
It is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination.

Youth means courage over timidity, for adventure over the love of ease.
Nobody grows old merely by a number of years but by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
Worry, fear and self-distrust will bow the heart and turn the spirit back to dust.

In the centre of our hearts there is a wireless station: so long as it receives signals of hope, cheer and courage, you will be young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with cynicism and pessimism, then you are old, even at 20.

As long as your aerials are up, and catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.
